Setup Instructions:
1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the testset to obtain an IP address for the unit.
2. Turn on OPM Server (press OPM Server On). It should be colored
red
when ACTIVE.
3. Launch the LTSync Windows Desktop application installed on the laptop/desktop computer.
4. Mark the Ethernet connection in the checkbox and type in the designated IP address and port. The port used is always ‘1500’.
5. Press the Live Mode display button as indicated by the arrow, which opens the LTSync Live Mode power window to control the VeEX
testset’s built-in light source and the power meter.
It is also possible for the user to use a VeEX approved Wi-Fi USB dongle for RXT-1200, MTTplus, and TX300S chassis/built-in Wi-Fi in VS-
150 platform for the IP address and deselect the Ethernet connection button to type in IP address and port and press the Live Mode button.
(not shown)
WaveID:
a unique modulation frequency sent with the light source that carries identification code that verifies the signal transmitted is the
signal read.
WaveID enabled feature indicated by the red highlighted button
For optical light sources FX8x in VeEX test sets and standalone FX4x/FX8x OLS/OLTS, the user only needs to turn on the OLS (testset
aforementioned) and enable the WaveID button in the OPM tab.
dB:
relative measurement (loss testing) mode. This changes the display to show the two power measurement references and the difference
(insertion loss)
Mode:
this indicates whether the power meter mode is standard configuration (PM1) or high-power mode (PM2). This is also seen by the
default display reading when nothing is plugged in. <-70 dBm for PM1 configuration and <-50/<-55 dBm for PM2 configuration typically. If the
meter has multiple modes, the user can select the appropriate mode.
If the VeEX optical tester connected does not have OLS capabilities (not OLTS), the OLS tab cannot be used (non-
functional). It shows up even if the VeEX testset is OPM only.
General power meter measurement workflow:
1. After cleaning and inspecting all patch-cord endfaces, connectors and bulkhead ports with fiber-cleaning equipment, perform the Zero
calibration operation (Zero) with the OPM and OLS light source dust caps closed.
2. Select the calibrated wavelength to measure.
3. Set the optical light source (self) or separate standalone device to transmit at the desired wavelength. VeEX compatible light sources
allow the user to use
Wave ID
function on the GUI to auto-detect the transmitted source.
4. The absolute power measurement value is displayed. Press
Acquire
to log the measurement. If the user requires a loss measurement
which there are multiple cables involved. The user can press the “
dB
button” and “
Set
” on the current absolute measurement to set the
0 dB reference (or
Hold
, than the
dB
button and
Set
) to be used.
