The following is an explanation of the dialogue text boxes:
# of Steps:
This is the number of taps above or below Neutral of the tap changer. The
<Raise or Lower>
test plan generated will have this number of steps above and below neutral.
The total number of steps will be twice this number plus one (neutral).
Fraction of 1%
This is the how much each step is raised or lowered. The value can be

entered directly as a decimal value (1 =100%, .5 =50%, .01 =1%, etc.) or as
(Ex. 5/8 of 1%)
fraction of 1% (5/8 =.00625).
H:
Is the high side voltage at neutral.
X:
Is the low side voltage at neutral.
Tap Location
Low = taps are on the low side of the transformer
High = taps are on the high side of the transformer
Extra Tests
This is to add extra tests other than the ones automatically generated by the
program. An extra row will be added for each extra test in the test plan.
Once all the values have been entered, click the “OK” button and a test plan similar to that shown in
Figure 25 will appear. Notice the extra rows for each extra test.
Enter the header information. The user can use the PC “TAB” key to move from one text box to the
next or use the mouse pointer to click in the desired text box.
With the mouse pointer click the “Type:” scroll box. Scroll to the proper type of transformer and select
it by clicking on it.
Once the test plan has been filled in, it must be saved using the “Save” or “Save As” options in the
“File” menu. Follow the same steps of Section 7-1 (associated with Figures 21 and 22) to save the load
tap changer test plan into the appropriate directory.
