4.2 File Utilities menu

The “Utilities” option of the “File” menu is a collection of utilities that can be used to manipulate test
plan or test records. Clicking the “Utilities” option displays the sub options available. Each sub option
also has a second level of sub options. The second level of sub options is always the same for each of
the sub options; it allows the user to perform the function with either a test plan or a test record. This
can be seen in Figure 8.

Each of the four file functions (Delete, Copy, Copy From Floppy, Export) accesses test plans and tests
records in the same way. Figure 9 shows the directory window that appears after anyone of the file
functions is selected. The directory window only shows the type of files that were selected in the
second level sub option. If test plans were selected then only “*.PLN” files will be displayed. If tests
were selected, then only “*.tst” files will be displayed. Test plan files are selected in Figure 8 above.

To select a file displayed in the window click on the file to highlight it, then click the “OK” button.
Clicking the “Cancel” button in any window closes the window and cancels the file function that was
selected.

The user is given the ability to change directories by clicking the “Change Dir” button. This brings up
the “Browse Folder” that gives the user access to all the drives and folders available to the PC being
used. This is also shown in Figure 9.0. To select a folder, click on it to highlight it, then click the
“OK” button. The files of the specific type selected will be displayed in the directory window and the
directory path will be updated.
