Check Operation
Turn the fi replace fl ame up and down using the
remote control to confi rm that the full range of inputs
is achieved—see the remote control operation
instructions on pages 13–18.
Set Aeration
(if necessary)
Light the fi re and allow the unit to warm up for 11–15
minutes to evaluate the fl ame picture. The burner is
equipped with an adjustable shutter to control primary
aeration. The shutter is factory-set to an aeration gap
which will give optimum performance for the vast
majority of installations.
Depending of fuel bed used/altitude, etc., the fl ame
picture may be improved by adjusting the aeration.
The need for adjustment should be determined only by
operating the appliance with the fuel bed and window
installed and evaluating the fl ame picture after a
45-minute warm-up.
Increasing aeration
will cause the fl ames to appear
more transparent and blue showing more ceramic
eff ects glow.
Decreasing aeration
will cause the fl ames to appear
more yellow or orange showing less ceramic eff ects glow.
Too little aeration may result in black carbon
forming and dropping into the fi rebox.
To access the air shutter, remove the barrier screen.
The air shutter lever is located in front of the fi rebox
behind the appliance front panel. Adjust the shutter by
sliding the lever right or left.
Shut-off Gas Supply
To protect the appliance during construction and
fi nishing, shut-off gas supply to the appliance to avoid
having the fi replace turning on/off unexpectedly.
• The shut-off valve is located behind the front panel
on the left of the gas valve as indicated.
Turn the shut-off valve from the ON position (handle
parallel) to the OFF position (handle perpendicular)
as shown. This will cut off the gas supply to the
fi replace and will ensure that the main burner can
not come on.
NOTE: Ensure shut-off valve is turned back to
ON position (handle parallel) before operating
the fi replace.
