9.5.1

Towing eye

Never weld a towing eye, as this can drastically
reduce its durability. We always recommend
replacing the towing eye.

The machine is equipped with a standardised towing
interface. Check that the towing eye you have chosen is
suitable for your machine.

9.5.2

Inspecting the machine’s towing eye

The towing eye should be changed when it becomes worn.
Be sure to also check the towing eye’s bolted joints.

9.5.3

Re-tightening bolted joints

Figure 9.5

The towing eye’s bolted joints (A) must be re-
tightened at regular intervals to 277Nm.
Use a torque wrench.

9.5.4

Wear limit

Figure 9.6

When the diameter of the hole in the towing eye has
increased by 2.5 mm, it has reached its wear limit and it is
time to change the eye.

When fitting a new towing eye, new bolts (A) must be
used. The bolts should be tightened with 277 Nm, use a
torque wrench.

9.5.5

Re-tightening of screw unions

After a period of use, the bolted joints must be re-
tightened to a torque that varies according to the bolt size.

“Table 9.1 Tightening torques“

shows the torque required.

Use a torque wrench to tighten the joints. If you do not
have a torque wrench, the example given in

“Figure 9.7 “

may be helpful.
