Changing Button Legends

Appendix D

Using the Template

The legend template document allows you to modify the default legends for each selected
panel, to meet your system requirements.

Use the following steps to change or modify button legends:

1. Locate the (supplied) Utah Scientific floppy disk that contains the template document

(

), and insert the disk in your PC’s floppy drive. Open the drive’s directory,

and copy the file to a new folder on your hard drive.

2. Ensure that Microsoft Word is installed on your PC.

3. Open the template document, and scroll down to locate the template for panel whose

legends you want to modify.

4. Place your cursor in the desired cell and click.

For reference, the figure below illustrates a portion of the UCP XY/16 template.

5. Type the desired legend in the cell.

Please note the following points regarding the template:

•

The legend is automatically centered. You can place up to three lines of text in a
cell by pressing

ENTER

at the end of each line.

•

The default text is 10 point Avant Garde MD BT. If you have a compact legend,
you may be able to increase the font size to 11 points, or you may have to
decrease the font size to 9 points if additional characters are required on a line.
