phase reversed. Inputs can be combined in various ratios to synthesize an output. For example,
left and center can be combined to generate Lc. Left, center, and right are combined to
generate HI. When using the simple matrix decode option, to generate surrounds from a stereo
source, left and right are combined with opposite phase to generate the surround channel.
Changing the channel configuration, input source, or stereo decode method source will reload
the mixer coefficients. You can modify these to create a custom format, but do not change the
channel configuration, input source, or stereo decode method after changing the mixer
configuration. Otherwise your changes will be overwritten with the default coefficient values.
Input Source
Each format select button on the JSD-­‐60 is programmable. The Input Source field allows you to
determine which hardware input will drive the channel mixer in the DSP. These should be fairly
self-­‐explanatory, but a couple options deserve more discussion.
When the selected input is ANALOG (6 channel analog), the channel mixer settings shown
above appear by default. Note that the first 6 outputs are driven by A1 through A6, the 6 analog
inputs. The rear surrounds are driven with 50% of Ls and 50% or Rs. This results in the rear
surrounds being a mono sum of the side surrounds.
