Chip marks. It occurs when the blades capture
the chip and drag it along the wood being
brushed; Caused by obstruction of the exhaust
or improper configuration of the chip deflec-
tor.
Tears. Deep grooving caused by improper chip
breaker configuration.
ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
Exposure to dust created by sanding, sawing,
grinding, drilling, and other construction activ-
ities can cause severe and permanent respira-
tory diseases, including silicosis (a serious lung
disease), cancer, and death. Avoid breathing
dust, and avoid prolonged contact with dust.
Dust may contain chemicals that cause cancer,
birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
2. ALWAYS wear eye protection. Any machine
can throw debris into the eyes during the op-
eration, which could cause serious and per-
manent eye damage. Daily wear lenses are
not safety glasses. Always wear safety glasses
(complying with ANSI Z87.1) when operating
power tools.
Some examples of these chemicals are:
• Lead paint.
• Crystalline silica of bricks, cement and other
masonry products.
• Arsenic and chromium from chemically treat-
ed wood.
Always operate the tool in a well-ventilated
area. Use a dust collection system along with
an air filtration system whenever possible. Al-
ways wear respiratory protection approved by
NIOSH / OSHA standards as they are appropri-
ate for exposure to dust. Wash exposed areas
with soap and water.
FEATURES
BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE PLANER
Before attempting to use this planer, become
familiar with all of its operating features and
safety requirements.
WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with the
table saw to cause a lack of alertness. A frac-
tion of second of carelessness is enough to
cause sever injury.
INTERNAL COMPONENTS
A. Anti-Kickback Fingers: Provide additional
safety for the operator.
B. Serrated Infeed Roller: Pulls the workpiece
toward the cutterhead.
C. C hip Breaker: Breaks off chips created by
the cutterhead to prevent tear out and diverts
the chips to the dust port.
D. C hip Deflector: Directs chips into the dust
hood.
E. Cutterhead: Holds the knives that remove
material from the workpiece.
F. Pressure Bar: Stabilizes the workpiece as it
leaves the cutterhead and assists in deflecting
wood particles toward the dust hood (CE1120A
only).
G. Outfeed Rollers: Pulls the work piece
through the planer.
H. Table Rollers: Provide upward pressure on
the workpiece enabling the feed rollers to pull
the workpiece along.
I. Planer Table: Provides a smooth and level
path for the workpiece as it moves through
the planer.
WARNING: Like all machinery there is po-
tential danger when operating this machine.
Accidents are frequently caused by lack of fa-
miliarity or failure to pay attention. Use this
machine with respect and caution to decrease
the risk of operator injury. If normal safety
precautions are overlooked or ignored, serious
personal injury may occur.
UNPACKING
Your machine was carefully packaged for safe
transportation. Remove the packaging materi-
als from around your machine and inspect it. If
you discover the machine is damaged, please
immediately call Customer Service.
