Please note that Starflow is not “plug and play” type of instrument.
To get most accurate and reliable information relevant for you installation you will need, in a way,
to “calibrate” Starflow. That’s why it is always recommended that initially, Frequency, Quartile,
Samples and Signal are ticked in the internal channels TAB. This selection will slightly increase
power consumption but it will provide valuable information for the “calibration” of the Starflow.
Later, when all parameters are set accurately these channels can be unselected.
6.1.2.2 Configuring the Starflow as an SDI-12 Sensor
When the Starflow is an SDI-12 sensor, other SDI-12 recorders can access and log data sensed
by it. This can be useful if you have something with a limited number of inputs, such as a Starflow,
but would prefer to have all data at a site logged by a single logger. You could configure the
Starflow as an SDI-12 sensor, and use a Starlogger as an SDI-12 recorder to log the
depth/velocity/flow from the Starflow, as well as whatever other instruments you have (e.g. wind
speed/direction, air temperature, rainfall).
To set a Starflow up as an SDI-12 sensor, first add any required instruments to it. Then open the
Starflow instrument and select the
SDI-12
tab. Tick
SDI-12 Sensor
to enable the controls.
Select ADD and for each channel you want to make available as an SDI-12 reading:
