BUILDING THE WING
To build the wing, we build and install the ailerons, fold up the wing halves around the spar, install torque rods and install
a wing "wrap."
AILERONS
3.06 First lay out the wings on a flat work surface and position them so that the inside is facing you and the wing
bottoms (square tips) are nearest you.
3.07 Locate the hinge strips and position them on the trailing edges of the wing bottoms. Note that the long tab end
of the hinge strip is at the root and the short tab end is at the wing tip. Mark one left and one right.
3.08 Beginning with the right hinge strip, locate the hinge flute on the bottom of the strip and slit it as you did the rudder
and elevator hinges. Be sure to trim the excess with a razor or hobby knife to make a clean working hinge that extends the
length of the aileron. Perform this same action on the bottom of the left hinge strip. Now reposition the hinge strips.
3.09 Locate the ailerons and mark one left and one right. (They are identical). Using a steel ruler or yardstick on a flat
work surface, carefully fold the aileron at the score and trial fold them over the hinge strips as shown in the illustration. Use a
steel ruler and the back of a pocket comb if necessary to "work" the score and get a good, straight bend in the aileron.

3.10 Using contact cement, glue the aileron to the
hinge strip, gluing to the BOTTOM OF THE HINGE STRIP FIRST.
Then, flipping the assembly over and folding the aileron up
over the top of the hinge strip last. This results in a wedge-
shaped assembly (see illustration). It is best to glue only to
the hinge strip and not to glue the aileron to itself near the
score, outside the hinge strip. Perform this operation for
both left and right ailerons and hinge strips.
