4.06 Install your on/off switch either on the fuselage or on the PC between the radio and the flex tank.
If you install the on/off switch in the fuselage, place it below the rails where it will not interfere with the PC sliding in and out
of the fuse, and where the connectors will be accessible for connection to the radio and battery when you install the PC.
If you install the on/off switch on the PC itself, you will save yourself the expense of having an on/off switch on each PC
compatible plane you own and the trouble of hooking it up each time you install the PC. You will also have a complete test-
bed for new planes and engines.
NOSE GEAR & STEERING
IF YOU ARE BUILDING A NOSE GEAR MODEL, YOU WILL REQUIRE A NOSE GEAR WITH A LONG WIRE ABOVE THE COIL SPRING TO PASS THROUGH
THE NOSE GEAR BLOCK AND PC. CONSULT WITH YOUR HOBBY DEALER OR CONTACT US FOR A GEAR OF THE PROPER DIMENSIONS.
4.07 Use a 5/32" Nose Gear, steering
arm assembly and wheel collars. Install the
nose gear through the nose gear block you
drilled during Evening One. Use a wheel
collar on the top side of the PC to retain the
gear. (These can be adjusted later to set
the height of the nose gear when mounted).
Install a steering arm at the bottom of the
nose gear wire, just above the coil spring.
Connect the steering arm to your rudder
servo with an appropriate link and clevis
from your hobby dealer so that the linkage
(wire) just clears the tank. Note that when
the rudder moves to the left, your nose gear
will move to the left as well.

4.08 Slide the PC into the fuselage and note where the nose area needs to be trimmed to accept your muffler, needle
valve and (if used) nose gear. Trim as necessary, allowing at least 1/8" clearance around the muffler extension and 1/8"
around the needle valve. The bottom of the fuselage nose will need to be trimmed back or drilled for nose gear installation.
4.09 Balance the model and PC. Slide the PC into the fuselage and attach the wing using a few rubber bands. Be sure
your prop and spinner or prop nut are on the engine, and attach your landing gear, with wheels. The tank should be empty.
4.10 Balance the plane using the spar as the center of gravity. You want to move your PC in or out of the fuselage until
the plane is properly balanced on the spar - JUST SLIGHTLY NOSE HEAVY, BUT NEVER TAIL HEAVY! Balance the plane on the spar
at the tips. Have a friend hold one tip while you hold the other, supporting the wing with your finger just under the spar at
the tip. Once satisfied with the balance, remove the wing for PC installation and attachment of the control rods.
4.11 Install PC mounting screws. Using a 1/16" drill bit, drill through the PC rails and the PC at four locations, two in
the nose from the bottom about mid-engine and two at the rear of the PC, near the servos, as shown in the illustration.
Install the 1/2" pan head wood screws to retain the PC in the rails.
