You must allow 1U (44mm or 1.75 inches) of vertical space for each system you install in the rack.
Rack cabients that meet EIA-310D standards have a pattern of three holes per rack unit with
center-to-center holes spacing (beginning at the top holes of a 1U space) of 0.625” ,0.625”, and
0.5inch ( in metric: 15.9mm, 15.9,, and 12.7mm ) for the front and rear vertical rails. Rack cabient
usually have round or square holes.
NOTICE: Some vertical rails may be marked by horizontal lines and numbers in 1U
increments. You can make a note of the number marking on the rack’s vertical rail.

Following these steps to mark the rack

Place a mark on the rack’s front vertical rails where you want to locate the bottom of the
system you are installing in the rack cabient
Place a mark 1.75inch above the original mark you made ( or count up three holes in a
rack that meets EIA-310D standards)
