In Canada -
The Masonry Fireplace’s Hearth must extend a minimum of 16”(406mm) in front and 8”(203mm)
beyond each side of the fireplace opening and can be flush with adjacent combustible floor.
In the U.S
. - the Masonry Fireplace’s Hearth must extend a minimum of 16” in front and 8” beyond each side
of the fireplace opening and be raised 1” above a combustible floor,
or
the hearth must extend a minimum of
21”in front and 8” beyond each side of the fireplace opening and can be flush with a combustible floor.
