Drive Chain Free Movement
Inspection
Warning
Make sure the motorcycle is stabilised
and adequately supported.
A correctly supported motorcycle will
help prevent it from falling.
An unstable motorcycle may fall,
causing injury to the operator or
damage to the motorcycle.

1. Maximum vertical movement position
To inspect the drive chain free
movement:
▼ Place the motorcycle on a level
surface and hold it in an upright
position with no weight on it.
▼
Rotate the rear wheel by pushing the
motorcycle to find the position where
the drive chain is tightest, and
measure the vertical movement of
the drive chain midway between the
sprockets.
▼ The vertical movement of the drive
chain must be in the range 32 -
42
mm.

1. Eccentric adjuster pinch bolts
2. Eccentric adjuster
3. C-spanner
To change the drive chain free
movement:
▼ Loosen the adjuster pinch bolts.
▼ Using the C-spanner, turn the
eccentric
adjuster clockwise to
increase vertical movement,
anticlockwise to decrease vertical
movement.
