TO STOP THE ENGINE
S
Support the motorcycle on a firm,
level surface with the side stand.
S
Close the throttle completely.
S
Select neutral.
S
Turn the ignition switch off.
S
Lock the steering.
CAUTION: The engine should
normally be stopped by
turning the ignition switch off. The
engine stop switch is for emergency
use only. Do not leave the ignition
switched on with the engine stopped.
Electrical damage may result.
TO START THE ENGINE
S
Check that the engine stop switch is
in the run position.
S
Ensure that the transmission is in
neutral.
S
Pull the clutch lever fully in to the
handlebar.
S
Turn the ignition switch on.
S
The tachometer needle will sweep
from zero to maximum engine speed
and then return to zero. When it
returns to zero, leaving the throttle
completely closed, push the starter
button until the engine starts.
NOTE:
S
The starter will not operate until
the tachometer needle reaches
zero.
WARNING: Never start the
engine or run the engine in a
confined area. Exhaust fumes are
poisonous and can rapidly cause loss
of consciousness and death within a
short time.
Always operate your motorcycle in
the open--air or in an area with
adequate ventilation.
