Switching on and off

1.  Connect the tool to mains power
2.  Switch on the tool by pushing the On/Off Switch (3) forward and press down on the front to

lock it in the on position (Images A & B)

3.  Press down on the rear of the On/Off Switch  which will cause the spring-loaded switch to

move instantly to the stop position

Making a cut

WARNING:

Ensure the Guard Blade Release (11) guard window and Blade Guard Bar (10)

are in good condition and correctly positioned to prevent fingers touching the teeth of the
blade in use
1.  Position the front of the Base (4) on the edge of the workpiece (Image M) and start the saw
2.  Allow the blade to reach full speed before engaging the workpiece
3.  Slowly guide the jigsaw forward using both hands, keeping the Base against the workpiece
4.  Do not force the saw: allow the blade and the saw to do the work. Use only enough

pressure to keep the blade cutting

Pocket and circular cutting

•  When starting a cut within a workpiece, drill a 12mm diameter hole on the waste side of the

cut to ensure there is clearance for the blade (Image L)

•  When cutting tight curves, reduce the speed of the saw (Image K)

WARNING

: Do not move the saw forward along its cut until the blade has completely entered

the material and the shoe comes to rest on its surface.

Using the parallel guide

•  Use the Parallel Guide to guide the jigsaw along a straight line, which can be an edge of the

workpiece or a piece of straight timber clamped to the workpiece

•  The fence is particularly useful for ensuring consistency when cutting multiple strips from a

single piece of material

Cutting metal

•  When cutting metals, a suitable cooling/cutting oil must be used
•  Apply the lubricant to the blade or workpiece at regular intervals during cutting in order to

reduce wear on the blade

Accessories

•  Accessories for your jigsaw, including blades for different kinds of materials and cuts, are

available from your Triton stockist. Spare parts can be obtained at www.toolsparesonline.

Maintenance

WARNING

: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any inspection,

maintenance or cleaning.

General inspection

•  Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight
•  Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs should be

carried out by an authorised service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords used
with this tool

Cleaning

WARNING

: ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when

cleaning this tool.
•  Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and

shorten the device’s service life

•  Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth
•  Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, a mild

detergent on a damp cloth is recommended

•  Water must never come into contact with the tool
•  Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it
•  If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes (where

applicable)

Lubrication

•  Slightly lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals with a suitable spray lubricant

Brushes

•  Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
•  Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible sparking
1.  To replace the carbon brushes remove the Brush Access Screw (15) and carefully pull off

the cover at the rear of the tool

2.  Remove the small screw (Image G) and lift the frame that holds the carbon brush up by

about 12mm (1/2”) then carefully remove the electrical connector (arrowed in Image H)

3.  Push the connector with bare multi-strand copper wire through the frame as you remove

the old worn carbon brush

4.  Fit the connector and wire of the new brush through the frame before placing the new

carbon brush into the frame

5.  Connect the electrical connector (Image H)
6.  Carefully fit the frame back into the recess and secure with the screw
7.  Visually check the frame is correctly fitted
8.  Repeat steps 2-7 for the other carbon brush
9.  Refit the Base Cover (5) and the Brush Access Screw ensuring the mains cable is not caught

and the Variable Speed Dial (14) is lined up correctly

10.Remove any blades from the tool and connect to the mains
11.Run the tool at a slow speed initially and then increase the speed to ensure the tool is

operating correctly

•  Alternatively have your tool serviced at a Triton service centre

IMPORTANT

: Always replace carbon brushes in pairs.

Storage

•  Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children

Disposal

Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer
functional and are not viable for repair.
•  Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE),

with household waste

•  Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct  way to dispose of

power tools
