2. Introduction
The B050-000 is a stand-alone product with the following dimensions: 3.75” (D) x 1” (H) x 73” (W)
The B050-000 is shipped with:
• A B050-000 base unit
• A external power supply
• A power cord
• A KVM cable
• Transparent equipment feet
• An Owner's Manual
• A Virtual Floppy Instructions Addendum
• A Quick Start Guide
The B050-000 gives you full control over the remote server. The Management Console allows you to access the remote
server’s graphics, keyboard and mouse and lets you send special commands to the server. You can also perform periodic
maintenance of the server. Using the Console Redirection Service you can do the following:
• Reboot the system (a graceful shutdown)
• Watch the boot process
• Boot the system from a separate partition to load the diagnostic environment
• Run special diagnostic programs
Fixing hardware defects is not possible using a remote management device. Nevertheless, the B050-000 gives the
administrator valuable information about the type of hardware failure. Serious hardware failures can be organized into five
different categories (According to a survey made by the Intel Corp.):
B050-000 System Components
When the Server is Up and Running
When the Server is Dead
Category
Probability
Hard disk failure
50%
Power cable detached, power supply failure
28%
