Statistics indicate that people over 60 are at
greater risk of getting involved in accidents
while operating this type of lawn mower. These
people should evaluate their ability to operate
the tractor with sufficient safety for their own
protection and of others against accidents and
serious injuries.
Be careful of holes, grooves, protrusions, rocks
and other hidden objects. Rough terrain may
tip over the machine, and lawn too high can
hide obstacles such as tree roots.
Never make adjustments or repairs while the
engine is running.
Danger!
Whenever performing any cleaning or maintenance
operations, first ensure that the equipment is
switched off and that the blades are stationary.
3 - Children
Serious accidents can happen if the operator is not
aware of the presence of children. In fact, children
are always attracted by the activity of this machine.
So stay alert, because they will not always stay in
the last place you saw them.
Keep children and bystanders away. When the
equipment is in use, all persons, especially
children, must remain at a safe distance from the
work area of approximately 30 meters radius.
Before and during the reverse, look back and
forth to see if there are little children in your way.
Never allow the machine to be operated by
children.
Be extra careful when approaching hidden
corners, shrubs, trees and other spots that can
hide the presence of children.
Keep children away from hot or running
engines. They may get burned.
Remove the start key when not in the vicinity
of the tractor to prevent the tractor from being
used without your supervision.
Never carry children as passengers, even if
the blades are disabled. They may fall and
be seriously injured or interfere with the
safe operation of the machine. Children who
have been taken on rides in the machine may
suddenly appear in the cutting area, requesting
another ride, and being run over when the
machine is advancing or retreating.
4 - Use and care
If the tractor is not equipped with the reverse
mowing mode, avoid this operation. Always
look back and down before and during the
reverse.
Never direct the discharge of the cut material
against other people. Avoid unloading the
material against walls or buildings as it may
return to the operator (see page 32).
Slow down before maneuvering.
Never leave the machine switched on
unattended. Remember to turn off the blades,
pull the brake and switch off the engine, and
always remove the keys before leaving the
tractor.
Disengage the blades when not mowing the
lawn. Turn off the engine and wait until all
moving parts stop completely before cleaning
the machine, removing the lawn catcher or
unclogging the discharge guard.
Operate the machine only in daylight or with
good artificial lighting.
Always be aware of the traffic when operating
the machine near roads or crossing them.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on
wheel weights and counterweights.
