4 Safety
4.1 General safety provisions
ADVICE

You must read and comply with the safety and warning information in these
instructions.
■
Read through these instructions carefully before you operate the Power
48-5000 system.
Failure to comply with these instructions can result in personal injury or material
damage. Torqeedo accepts no liability for damage caused by actions which are
contrary to these instructions.
4.1.1 Principles
In addition, the Power 48-5000 and chargers must be operated in compliance with
all local safety and accident prevention regulations.
Before delivery, the Power 48-5000 and chargers were designed and manufactured
with the utmost care and with a special focus on convenience, user-friendliness and
safety, and they have been extensively tested.
However, unintended use of the Power 48-5000 and chargers may result in danger
to the life and limb of the user or of third parties, in addition to extensive material
damage.
4.1.2 Intended use
Intended use Power 48-5000
The Power 48-5000 can be operated in combination with Torqeedo Cruise systems.
For a Cruise 4.0, one Power 48-5000 is required, while for a Cruise 10.0, two
Power 48-5000s are required, connected in parallel.
Can also be used without a drive, or with other drive systems. The Power 48-5000
must always be operated within its specifications.
Intended use also includes:

Attachment of the Power 48-5000 to the attachment points provided for the
purpose.
■
Compliance with all directions in these instructions.
■
Compliance with care and maintenance intervals.
■
The exclusive use of original replacement parts.
■
Use exclusively in a dry installation location that cannot be flooded. In particular,
regular submersion in sea water must be avoided.
■
Connection in parallel up to max. 2 P using TQ-CAN network and
Torqeedo Gateway.
Intended use chargers
The chargers are used to charge the Power 48-5000.
Intended use also includes:

Attachment of the chargers to the attachment points provided for the purpose.

Compliance with all directions in these instructions.

Compliance with care and maintenance intervals.
■
The exclusive use of original replacement parts.
■
Use exclusively in a dry installation location that cannot be flooded.
