5. Squeeze the ends of the hose clamps together
and slide them away from the filter (Figure 39).
6. Remove the filter from the fuel lines.
7. Install a new filter and move the hose clamps
close to the filter (Figure 39).
8. Open the fuel shutoff valve.
Servicing the Fuel Tank
In certain conditions, gasoline is extremely
flammable and highly explosive. A fire or
explosion from gasoline can burn you and
others and can damage property.
• Drain gasoline from the fuel tank when
the engine is cold. Do this outdoors in
an open area. Wipe up any gasoline that
spills.
• Never smoke when draining gasoline,
and stay away from an open flame or
where a spark may ignite the gasoline
fumes.
1. Park the machine on a level surface to ensure
that the fuel tanks drain completely.
2. Disengage the power takeoff (PTO), set the
parking brake, stop the engine, and remove
the key.
3. Close the fuel shutoff valve (Figure 39).
4. Loosen the hose clamp at the fuel filter and
slide it up the fuel line away from the fuel filter
(Figure 39).
5. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter
(Figure 39).
6. Open the fuel shutoff valve.
Note:
Allow gasoline to drain into a fuel
container can or drain pan (Figure 39).
Note:
Now is the best time to install a new
fuel filter because the fuel tank is empty.
7. Install the fuel line onto the fuel filter. Slide
the hose clamp close to the fuel filter to secure
the fuel line (Figure 39).

Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid
which is a deadly poison and causes severe
burns.
Do not drink electrolyte and avoid contact
with skin, eyes or clothing. Wear safety
glasses to shield your eyes and rubber gloves
to protect your hands.
