Charging the Battery
Charging the battery produces gasses that
can explode.
Never smoke near the battery and keep
sparks and flames away from battery.
Important:
Always keep the battery
fully charged (1.265 specific gravity). This
is especially important to prevent battery
damage when the temperature is below 32°F
(0°C).
1. Remove the battery from the chassis; refer to
Removing the Battery.
2. Check the electrolyte level; refer to Checking
the Electrolyte Level.
3. Make sure the filler caps are installed in battery.
Charge battery for 1 hour at 25 to 30 amps or
6 hours at 4 to 6 amps.
4. When the battery is fully charged, unplug
the charger from the electrical outlet, then
disconnect the charger leads from the battery
posts (Figure 42).
5. Install the battery onto the machine and
connect the battery cables, refer to Installing
the Battery.
Note:
Do not run the machine with the
battery disconnected, electrical damage may
occur.

Servicing the Fuses
The electrical system is protected by fuses. It
requires no maintenance. If a fuse blows, check

Drive System
Maintenance
Perform the following linkage adjustments when
the machine needs maintenance. Perform steps
Adjust the Speed Control Linkage through
Adjusting the Tracking. If and adjustment is
needed , do them in the order that they are listed.
Adjusting the Speed Control
Linkage
1. Disengage the PTO and set the parking brake.
2. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts
to stop before leaving the operating position.
3. Check the adjustment of the speed control
crank arm. It must match the handle bar height
setting. Refer to Adjusting the Handle Bar
Height.
4. Move the speed control lever (located on
the console) to the full forward position
(Figure 44).
