Troubleshooting
CAUTION
Remove all jewelry, especially rings and
watches, before doing any electrical trouble-
shooting or testing. Disconnect the battery
cables unless the test requires battery voltage.
For effective troubleshooting and repairs, you must have
a good understanding of the electrical circuits and com-
ponents used on this vehicle (see electrical schematics
and drawings in Chapter 9 − Electrical Drawings).
If the vehicle has any interlock switches by − passed, they
must be reconnected for proper troubleshooting and
safety.
Condition Possible Cause
Nothing happens when start attempt is made. Brake pedal is not depressed when attempting to start
− instruct operator.
Hydraulic lift lever is not in neutral position when
attempting to start − instruct operator.
Fuse A1 (10 amp) is faulty.
Battery cables are loose or corroded.
Ground connection(s) is loose or corroded.
Battery is discharged.
Fusible link is faulty.
Lift lever interlock switch is out of adjustment or faulty.
Lift lever interlock switch wiring is loose, corroded or
damaged.
Ignition switch is faulty.
Ignition switch wiring is loose, corroded or damaged.
Main power relay is faulty.
Main power relay wiring is loose, corroded or
damaged.
Start relay is faulty.
Start relay wiring is loose, corroded or damaged.
Starter solenoid wiring is loose, corroded or damaged.
Starter solenoid is faulty.
Starter cranks, but should not, with brake pedal
released.
Brake switch or circuit wiring is faulty.
Starter cranks, but should not, with hydraulic lift lever
out of the neutral position.
Lift lever interlock switch is out of adjustment.
Lift lever interlock switch or circuit wiring is faulty.
