Operation
Observe the safety instructions!
• Hold the voltage tester so that a finger
touches the top of the voltage tester.
Do not use a glove. The human skin
must be in direct contact with the con-
tact surface.
• Then hold the blade tip of the volta-
ge tester to the electrical contact you
would like to test. Make sure the sur-
face makes measurement possible.
Oxidised or painted surfaces are unsu-
itable for measurement.
• If the glow lamp lights up, there is a
voltage (on two sides of the voltage
tester are lens-like windows, through
which you can see the lamp).
In this way, you can quickly determine the opening of phase L, for example in a
power socket.
Attention, important for operation:
• When operating the voltage tester, it is important that the contact surface at the
top touches human skin. Therefore, do not wear gloves or similar protection when
using this device.
• Please note under poor lighting conditions, (e.g., sunshine, bright ambient condi-
tions) or an unfavourable viewing angle or looking at an unfavourable angle, it may
be difficult to detect whether the lamp is glowing.
• Display accuracy may be affected if you are standing on insulated surfaces (or
wearing shoes) or measuring a non-grounded AC system.
• The accuracy of the display can also be affected if the contact resistance of the
skin is too high (e.g., dry skin or cornea).
• The amount of voltage is not displayed.
• Under certain circumstances, the glow lamp may light up even if there is no volta-
ge (caused by e.g., static charge).
• It is not possible to test the neutral conductor (N) or protective conductor (PE).
• In principle, it is not possible to measure sockets with child protection possible
because the design of the socket prevents inserting a single probe.
Never bypass the child protection of the socket by, for example, plugging in ano-
ther object! Never use two single-pole voltage testers at the same time!
• Owing to external influences, it may happen that the glow lamp does not light up
(or the lamp does not shine bright enough) despite that there is a voltage.
• The single-pole voltage tester is not suitable for reliably determining the absence
of voltage according to DIN EN 61243-3 (VDE 0682-401).
• Always test the voltage tester’s function and display first on an intact/functional/
sound voltage source before carrying out the actual test.
Care and cleaning
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as these can
cause discolouration. To prevent scratch marks, do not press too strongly on the surface when
cleaning.
A defective glow lamp cannot be replaced. Dispose of the voltage tester in an environmentally
correct manner.
Disposal
The product must not be disposed of with the household waste. Dispose of an un-
serviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
