3.4.1

PCMCIA Card

The PCMCIA card is essentially a block of static RAM and a lith-
ium battery to power the RAM’s when the card is not inserted or
external power is turned off. The service-time of the lithium bat-
tery is approximately 4 years. The PCMCIA card is used for two
purposes, storing files and loading new program versions into the
Flash PROM. The files stored on the PCMCIA card contain the Ad-
dress book, Received and Send messages, pre-programmed
messages and the Receive- and SendLogs.

3.4.2

ARCNET interface

This interface is used for communicating with future Data Acqui-
sition Units.
