Duty Cycle
The duty cycle ratings for the Ultra Flex
®
350 power
source are listed in Tables 3-1 and 3-2. The output
ratings are different for single and three phase
operation. The duty cycle is the percentage of a ten
minute period that the power source can be oper-
ated at a given output without overheating the ma-
chine. For example, the Ultra Flex
®
has a rating of
35 volts and 375 amps with a duty cycle of 50%.
This means that the machine can be operated for
five minutes at 35 Volts and 375 Amps, then it must
be allowed to cool for the next five minutes at no
load.
