4. Proceed to the appropriate section to install or replace a memory module
(page 2-3), graphics card (page 2-7), PCI card (page 2-8), or lithium bat-
tery (page 2-13).
2.1.2 Memory Modules
The RES-32XEL supports up to six ECC registered DDR-266/200 (PC2100/1600)
SDRAM memory modules of different sizes, for a total of up to 12 GB installed in
184-pin DIMM sockets (see
Table 2-1 ).
The dual-channel memory bus can support full-duplex memory bandwidth transfers
of up to 4.27 GB/s. When installing memory, follow these rules:
• It is strongly recommended that you do not mix memory modules of different
speeds (2100 MHz and 1600 MHz, for example) and sizes.
• Make sure that the correct type of ECC DDR-266/200 (PC2100/1600)
SDRAM is being used. EDO SDRAM and PC100/133 are not supported.
• Both channels of a bank must be populated with memory to support the inter-
leaved memory design scheme of the system.
• Bank 1 must be filled before Bank 2; Bank 2 before Bank 3.
Caution: Exercise extreme caution when installing or removing SDRAM memory
modules to prevent any possible damage.
