Boom Components

SX-135 XC

Part No. 1263382

Note: Most repair procedures to the boom

assembly components can be performed with the

boom attached.
Note: The boom assembly may be removed with

the cable track attached.
4 Remove the end cover from the pivot end of

the primary boom.

5 Remove the limit switch mounting fasteners

from the limit switch on the ground controls

side of the primary boom. Do not disconnect

the wiring. Remove the limit switch.

6 Disconnect the electrical connector from the

primary boom angle sensor.

Note: The primary boom angle sensor is located

on the pivot pin on the tank side of the boom.
7 Remove the primary boom angle sensor

bracket mounting fasteners and remove the

primary boom angle sensor from the primary

boom. Do not remove the angle sensor from

the bracket.

Note: When the primary boom is installed, the

primary boom angle sensor will need to be

calibrated. Refer to Repair Procedure,

How to

Calibrate the Primary Boom Angle Sensor

8 Remove the hose and cable guide fasteners

at the primary boom pivot pin. Remove the

hose and cable guide.

9 Tag, disconnect and plug the primary boom

extension cylinder hydraulic hoses. Cap the

fittings on the cylinder.

Bodily injury hazard. Spraying

hydraulic oil can penetrate and

burn skin. Loosen hydraulic

connections very slowly to allow

the oil pressure to dissipate

gradually. Do not allow oil to

squirt or spray.

10 Place support blocks under the primary boom

lift cylinder.

11 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane

to the rod end of the primary boom lift

cylinder.

12 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the

primary boom lift cylinder rod-end pivot pin.

13 Use a soft metal drift to remove the rod-end

pivot pin. Rest the rod end of the primary

boom lift cylinder on the blocks.

14 Attach a 5 ton / 5000 kg overhead crane to

both ends of the primary boom. Do not apply

any lifting pressure.

15 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the

primary boom pivot pin.

16 Use a soft metal drift to remove the primary

boom pivot pins.

17 Carefully remove the primary boom from the

machine and place it on a structure capable of

supporting it.

Crushing hazard. The primary

boom could become unbalanced

and fall when removed from the

machine if not properly attached

to the overhead crane.
