Preparing the Pump for Operation
After you connect the pump to the data system computer, connect the solvent lines to their
respective degas inlets, and configure the pump to communicate with the data system, you are
ready to prepare the pump for operation. Before you operate the Accela Pump for the first
time, remove air from the solvent lines and prime the pulse dampener.
Removing Air from the Solvent Lines
Prepare the pump for operation by removing air from the solvent lines that are connected to
the built-in degassing unit.

To remove air from or to draw fresh solvent through a solvent line
1. For the solvent line that you are removing air from or drawing fresh solvent through (A,
B, C, or D), disconnect the corresponding tubing from the degasser outlet port.
2. Connect a Luer-Lok™ fitting to the degasser outlet port that you removed the tubing
from (see
Figure 29
).

CAUTION
Using a syringe or equivalent tool to draw solvent through the LDA can
damage the check valves. Use the data system controls to start and stop the solvent flow.
