RS-232 Cable
This sub-section describes the construction of a cable used to directly connect the computer to the
Transmitter. It will require 2 correct type DB connectors and a length of the correct 5 conductor cable. The
cable length should not exceed a length of 50 ft (16.5 m). The construction of this cable will also require
common hand tools, a soldering iron and some proficiency at soldering.
1. This cable assembly requires 2 connectors
(2-DB-9F type or 1-DB-9F and 1-DB-25F)
and a section of 5-conductor cable. Use
Figures 14 and 15, and Table 3, as a
guideline to the wiring configuration required.
2. Cut the desired length of cable to be run
between the Transmitter and computer. Do
not exceed a distance of 50 ft (16.5 m) as
communications may not function at this
length.
3. Following standard practices for the type of
cable and connectors chosen (solder or
crimp type), attach each end of the cable to
a connector.
4. Connect the cable assembly to the devices
as stated in the DV202S Transmitter Directly
Connected to Receiver sub-section.
