DV202S Transmitter Directly
Connected to Receiver
The Transmitter can be directly connected
to the Receiver using a single cable. This
cable replaces a modem and RJ-11 cable.
Refer to Figure 13. This is useful when it is
desired to test a new Transmitter site
installation without the use of Modems.
Note: There are 2 cables available from
TeleSite for direct connection.
TeleSite part number RS-232-CBL
is a 6 ft (1.8 m) long cable. When
ordering, specify the DB-9F to DB-
9F version or the DB-9F to DB-25F
version.
Note: Refer to the RS-232 Cable sub-
section for information on
fabricating a custom length cable.
1. Verify that the Transmitter has been
setup as stated previous sub-sections. Disconnect the modem cable from the Transmitter’s serial port.
2. Connect the Transmitter to the computer using the correct cable. The correct cable is determined by the
type of serial port socket available on the rear of the computer. If the computer is equipped with a DB-9M,
order the DB-9F to DB-9F version and if it is equipped with a DB-25M, order the DB-9F to DB-25F version.
Note: Do not use an off-the-shelf Modem cable to connect the Transmitter to the Computer, as it will not
function.
Connect the DB-9 end of the RS-232 Cable to the Communication Port #1 on the rear panel of the
Transmitter. Connect the remaining end (DB-9 or DB-25) to the serial port on the rear of the computer.
3. Power-on the Transmitter and verify that the Power LED illuminates solid.
4. Power-on the computer and go to Microsoft Windows operating system. Double click on the QuickSilver
RS-232 icon. Refer to the Operation Section of this manual.
