Chapter 6: First Light

This chapter provides step-by-step procedures for placing a PI-MAX3 system in 
operation for the first time using WinX/32 and LightField.
To minimize setup complexity, the following procedures are configured using:

•

Imaging Mode;

•

SuperSYNCHRO Internal Trigger Mode.

Setup can be performed under normal lighting.
Since these First Light procedures do not require a spectrograph, information 
pertaining to the cabling and mounting of a spectrograph is omitted,.

REFERENCES:

Information that may be of importance with some 
applications is omitted in this chapter for the sake of brevity.

6.1

WinX/32 First Light

This section provides the step-by-step procedure for acquiring an imaging 
measurement in WinX/32 for the first time. The purpose of this section is to gain 
familiarity with the operation of the system and to show that it is functioning properly. 
Once basic familiarity has been established, additional, more complex configurations 
can be implemented.

6.1.1

Required Equipment

The following items are required to operate the PI-MAX3 camera system in accordance 
with the procedure in this section:

•

Teledyne Princeton Instruments PI-MAX3 camera with C-mount adapter;

•

PI-MAX3 power supply;

•

User-supplied C-mount lens with smallest aperture of f/16 or f/22;

•

Host Computer equipped with a GigE Ethernet interface card;

•

Standard Ethernet cable;

•

WinX/32 Application Software.
