Periodic Maintenance Items
These maintenance items should be done prior to deploying the Wayfinder.
Wayfinder Inspection
The urethane coating on the Wayfinder is important to watertight integrity. Mishandling, chemicals, abra-
sive cleaners, and excessive depth pressures can damage the Wayfinder ceramics or urethane coating.
Never set the Wayfinder on a rough surface; always use a soft pad to protect the Wayfinder. Inspect the
urethane for dents, chipping, peeling, urethane shrinkage, hairline cracks, and damage that may affect
watertight integrity or Wayfinder operation. Please contact the TRDI Support Team for advice if there is
any damage.
The vent plug is used by TRDI for a helium leak test and nitrogen purge during manufacturing or repair.
Other than checking that the plug is not loose, there is no need to remove it.
Zinc Anode Inspection and Replacement
The Wayfinder has one zinc anode on the housing. If the Wayfinder does not have exposed bare metal, a
properly installed anode helps protect the Wayfinder from corrosion while deployed.
Inspect the anode for corrosion and pitting. If most of an anode still exists, it may not need to be replaced.
If there are doubts about the condition of the anode, remove and replace the anode.
To remove and replace the zinc anode
:
1. Remove the screw.
2. Clean the bonding area under the anode. Remove all foreign matter.
3. Set the new anode in place and tighten the M3 screw to 0.5 Nm (4.4 In-Lb).
