network performance management. The methods of synchronization are discussed in the
subsequent paragraphs.
1.1.4.13.1 Synchronization by the GPS system
This method can be used only, when the radio will be used with the GPS receiver.
The radios, which receive and use information about the time from the GPS unit, are in
the GPS-synchronization state. They can link with other network radios that are also in the
GPS-synchronization state. The radio which operates, using the FHSS mode, and will use the
GPS-synchronization, automatically updates the information, used for synchronization, every
two hours, when it remains in the satellites visibility zone. In case when the radio looses
signals from the satellites, it should switch to manual synchronization during sixty hours from
the last updating of the received information about the time. Otherwise it can loose the link with
the other network correspondents.
1.1.4.13.2 Manual synchronization
Manual synchronization is the method of
radios’ synchronization without GPS-
synchronization. The request for synchronization is sent to the main radio to perform special
synchronized transmission. The main network radio responds by transmitting the information
about the time (synchronizing response) over the channel, used by all radios, to synchronize
their clocks. The requesting station, while sending the request for synchronization to the main
station, is trying to receive special synchronizing transmission. While operating, when the
FHSS mode and manual synchronization is used, the radio operator must update the
information about the time that is stored in the radio
’s memory, every sixty hours.
1.1.4.13.3 Request for synchronization
Request for synchronization is the request method for the logging in to the radio
network that operates, using the FHSS mode, when special signals are sent on-the-air. The
radio operator sends the request for synchronization from the radio. When the main network
station receives this request, its operator informs it about the request, and it automatically
sends the synchronizing response in case, when the radio is programmed to respond
automatically. If the requesting station received the synchronizing response, it informs its
operator, that the option to operate in the mode of manual time of the day setting is activated
and the time can be used to link with the network that operates, using the FHSS mode.
While sending the request for synchronization, the radio operator selects the set of
preset system parameters to operate in the FHSS mode and the system automatically, at
random, selects frequency values from the current settings, on which it sends request to the
main network station. In case when the synchronizing response has not been received, the
