Maintaining print quality
If you notice a problem with the quality of your prints, the probable solution
is replacing one of the consumable components (toner cartridges, imaging
unit, fuser or transfer kit) or cleaning the corona wire. To help you diagnose
the problem, print the test print from the front panel:
1.
Press the

button. The display reads:

button. The display reads:
Test Print
<--- ---> Print

Press the
button.
The printer prints the diagnostic test print. Use it to diagnose and
correct any problems you might be having with print quality. If
you need to call Technical Support, always print the test print first,
because it contains useful diagnostic information.
4.
Press the
button until the front panel reads
Ready
.

Refer to the table “Troubleshooting and print quality quick
reference” on page 6-8 for examples of symptoms, probable
causes, and solutions. The Phaser 540 Quick Reference Card contains
color examples of some of the most common print artifacts to help
diagnose and correct print quality problems.
