on some diodes can be checked by referring to the schematic

and pulling appropriate transistors and square pin connectors

to remove low resistance loops around the diode.

resistance ratios of tunnel diodes or mixer diodes.

Some Trouble Symptoms

A misleading trouble symptom may occur if

one o f the

Varactor diodes in the oscillator circuit is shorted.

This will

clamp the DC output voltage from the

phase lock circuit and

prevent vertical trace shift as the FINE RF CENTER

FREQ

con

trol is adjusted. The symptom indicates trouble in the

phase

lock circuit when it is actually in the tuner.
