SECTION 2
PREPARATION FOR USE AND STORAGE
2.1
INTRODUCTION
This section provides the information required for custom configuration of the system, removal
and replacement of batteries, and storage. Custom system configuration includes customizing
channel frequencies and remote control set up.
Channels 0 to 9 can be configured for fixed frequency operation including transmit inhibit on
preselected channels.
Remote control functions can be tailored for ground or ±DC, single line, or land line keying.
Optional Phantom squelch signal can be enabled or disabled. Record transmit and receive audio
signals can be floated or ground referenced.
2.1.1 Disassembly General (Refer Figure 2-1)

Remove front access cover (1) by releasing 2 clip fasteners.
(2)
Remove and retain 4 bottom screws (2) securing cover (5) to chassis (6).
(3)
Remove and retain 2 top screws (item 3) securing cover to chassis.
(4)
Remove and retain 2 screws (item 4) securing cover to heatsink (7).
(5)
Slide cover forward, lift clear of chassis.
2.1.2 Assembly General (Refer to Figure 2-1)

Position cover (5) on Chassis (6) by aligning cover screw holes with chassis threaded
inserts.
CAUTION
The two center screws are secured to an aluminum
heatsink. Care must be taken to avoid stripping
heatsink threads. Install screws in the sequence
indicated to finger tightness. Tighten screws in the
same sequence.

Install 2 screws (4) securing cover to heatsink (7).
(3)
Install 2 top screws (3) securing cover to chassis.
(4)
Install 4 bottom screws (2) securing cover to chassis.
