4 – Recording
4. Turn the DATA dial to switch the Home Screen to trim
display mode.
5. Use the 1, 2, 3 and 4 knobs to adjust the input levels.
If input levels are too high, the PEAK indicators to the left of
the knobs light red.
The dotted lines at the −20dB (
b
mark) and −12dB
positions are guides for input level adjustment.
Levels should fluctuate around −20 dB and reach their
maximums around −12 dB.
Since the sound will distort if the 1/2/3/4 knob PEAK
indicators light, set the input levels so they do not light.
CAUTION
During mic input, these also light if distortion occurs in the
analog circuitry.
During line level input, these do not light even if distortion
occurs in the analog circuitry.
NOTE
To monitor the sound while adjusting the input levels or
recording, connect headphones to the
PHONES
jack.
Use the
PHONES
jack volume control to adjust the
monitoring level.
Compensating for mic distances
Use this function to compensate for delays that result from
differences in distances between the built-in mics and external
mics as well as between external mics.
1. On the
PHASE/DELAY
page, select the
DELY
item.(see
“Menu operation procedures” on page 12)
2. Select a channel and set its value according to the distance
of the connected mic.
Range:
0
(default) –
300
(ms)
3. When finished, press the MENU button to return to the
Home Screen.
Setting phase reversal for individual
channels
Input phase reversal can be set.
1. On the
PHASE/DELAY
page, select the
PHAS
item.(see
“Menu operation procedures” on page 12)
2. Select a channel and set its phase.
Options:
OFF
(default, normal phase),
ON
(reversed phase)
3. When finished, press the MENU button to return to the
Home Screen.
