VBI Priority:
In some cases, there may be a conflict when different VBI-data are assigned to the same VBI line. This
may be the case in lines 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20. Priorities to the different VBI data are assigned
according to the table below (with priority 1 as the highest). The table applies for both fields, except for
VPS, which is only present in the first (the VBI line number in the second field is given by adding 313
to the VBI line in the first field).

Alternative or supplemental placing of the different VBI-data
For example, it can be seen from the table that both VPS and VITS (test lines) can override both
teletext in lines 16 to 20. The decoder vill attempt to insert suppressed teletext lines if there are
available lines in the VBI, if not the teletext lines will be discarded.
The parameters for 625 lines and 525 lines video, respectively, are as follows:

Enable or disable Wide Screen Signalling {Off; MPEG-video; On (DVB)}. The
different settings may be interpreted as follows:
Off
: WSS is disabled, and the first half of line 23 will be blanked (i.e. set to black
level)
MPEG-video
: Line 23 will be treated as MPEG video. This is useful in cases
where WSS is encoded as video.
On (DVB)
: If present in the transport stream (DRAFT prETS 300 294), WSS-
data will be inserted in the first half of line 23.
If the signalled aspect ratio differs from the actual aspect ratio, the WSS signalling
is changed to reflect the actual aspect ratio of the video output.
In the special case where no WSS data stream is present and the MPEG-video
aspect is 16:9, the decoder will locally insert code for “16:9-full format
(anamorphic)”. Except for the four bits describing the aspect ratio, all other bits in
the WSS will be set to zero.
If no WSS data stream is present, and the MPEG-video aspect is 4:3, half of line
23 will be set to black level.

Converts 16/9 video format to 4/3 video format. {on, off}. The conversion from
16:9 video format to 4:3 is done by “cutting” off the left and right part of the
picture, to make it fit on a 4:3 screen.
