5-5 Installing
Memory
Note: Check the Supermicro web site for recommended memory modules.
CAUTION
Exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMM modules
to prevent any possible damage.
Installing DIMMs
1. Insert the desired number of DIMMs into the memory slots, starting with slot
P1-DIMMA1. For best performance, install memory modules of the same type
and same speed in the slots as indicated in the tables below.
2. Insert each DIMM vertically into its slot. Pay attention to the notch at the bot-
tom of the module to prevent inserting the DIMM incorrectly (see Figure 5-5).
3. Gently press down on the DIMM module until it snaps into place in the slot.
Repeat for all modules
Memory Support
The X9DBU-iF has 12 slots that support up to 384 GB of registered ECC RDIMM/
RLDIMM or up to 96 GB of ECC/non-ECC UDIMM DDR3-1600/1333/1066/800
memory.
Notes
: Memory speed support depends on the type of CPU used. Due to OS limita-
tions, some operating systems may not show more than 4 GB of memory. Due to
