)

.

2.  Open main gas valve located on or near gas meter for natural gas

or open propane/LP supply tank valve.

3.  Make sure control knob of fi replace insert is in the OFF position.
4.  Check all joints from gas meter to equipment shutoff valve for

natural gas

(see

Figure 18

)

 or propane/LP supply to equipment

shutoff valve for propane/LP

(see

Figure 19

)

FIREPLACE INSERT INSTALLATION INTO MASONRY FIREPLACE

NOTE:

 These heaters are designed to be installed into an existing

masonry fi replace (built to UBC 37 or ULC S628 standards) or fac-
tory built solid fuel, wood-burning fi replace (listed to UL 127 or ULC
S610)

only

.

If using a mantel above the fi replace, you must follow the clearances
shown in

Figure 12, Page 10

. Follow instructions below to install

fi replace insert in this manner.
1. Use dimensions shown in

 Figure 20

 for masonry fi replace open-

ing.

2.  Install and properly ground GA3555, three-prong 120 volt electrical

outlet, in fi replace insert. Follow instructions included in kit

(see

Accessories,

Page 28

).

3.  Install gas piping to fi replace location. This installation includes

an approved fl exible gas line (if allowed by local codes) after
equipment shutoff valve. Flexible gas line must be the last item
installed on gas piping. See Installing Gas Piping to Fireplace
Location,

Page 11

.

4.  Carefully set fi replace insert in front of masonry fi replace with

back of insert inside opening.

5.  Attach fl exible gas line to gas supply. See Connecting Fireplace

Insert to Gas Supply,

Page 12

.

6.  Plug electrical cord into electrical outlet installed in step 2.
7.  Carefully place fi replace insert into masonry fi replace.
8.  Check all gas connections for leaks. See Checking Gas Connec-

tions,

Page 12

.

9.  Install trim after fi nal fi nishing and/or painting of wall

(see

Figure
