TROUbLESHOOTING
7.3
MACHINE SHUTS DOWN WITH AIR DEMAND PRESENT
CAUSE
REMEDY
Loss of control voltage.
Reset breakers. If trouble persists, check transformer
voltages.
Low incoming voltage.
Consult power company.
Excessive operating pressure.
Improperly adjusted or defective control pressure regulator.
Readjust or replace. Check unload pressure settings.
Separator requires maintenance. Check separator
differential under full load conditions. Differential pressure
should be less than 10 psi.
High pressure shutdown switch (ROP) is set too low. Adjust
or replace switch.
Open compressor discharge temperature
(CDT) sensor.
Monitor temperature: normal operating pressure discharge
temperature should be 160-220°F (100°F above ambient).
Sensor is set to trip at 235-245°F.
Cooling airflow restricted. Clean cooler and check for
proper ventilation.
Ambient temperature is too high. Provide sufficient
ventilation.
Low lubricant level. Add lubricant.
Clogged oil filter. Change oil filter element.
Cooler thermostat not functioning properly. Replace
thermostat.
Defective CDT sensor. Replace CDT sensor.
7.4
LINE PRESSURE RISES AbOVE UNLOAD PRESSURE
CAUSE
REMEDY
Leak in control system tubing causing loss
of pressure signals.
Replace tubing.
Improperly adjusted or defective control
pressure transducer (P2).
Readjust or replace control pressure transducer (P2).
Defective solenoid valve.
Repair or replace solenoid valve.
Receiver pressure transducer (P1)
defective.
Replace receiver pressure transducer (P1).
Faulty inlet valve.
Repair or replace inlet valve.
7.5
EXCESSIVE LUbRICANT CONSUMPTION
CAUSE
REMEDY
Clogged separator oil return line.
Check for line blockage. Clean orifice and strainer located
in oil return sightglass assembly.
Separator element damaged or needs
service.
Change separator element.
Leak in lubrication system.
Check all pipes, connections and components.
Operating pressure below 60 psig.
Repair minimum pressure valve.
