NOTE: *.** corresponds to values read by ph sen-
sor.
17. Control should display the same as the value indi-
cated by digital thermometer (+/- 0.5°C) .
2.5.7 pH Sensor Calibration (Point #1)
NOTE: Write down batch number and expiration date
for buffer solution. Never use an expired solution.
1. Transfer approx. 80 ml of pH-4 buffer solution in a
beaker and label.
2. Transfer approx. 80 ml of pH-10 buffer solution in
another beaker and label.
3. Fill the third beaker with tap water.
4. Remove cap from ph sensor and dip sensor into
beaker filled with tap water to rinse.
NOTE: Glass bubble at sensor’s tip is very fragile,
never hit or rub. Never leave sensor in open air for
too long, always immerse in a liquid so bubble does
not dry.
5. Dab sensor tip with a soft lint-free cloth to remove
excess of water.
IMPORTANT: Do not discard solution contained in
cap; sensor must soak in this solution during cali-
bration.
6. On Thornton controller, press
CALIBRATE
button.
Use
UP
arrows to select
CALIBRATE SENSOR

then, press
OK/NEXT
button. Display shows:

7. Use

arrow to select channel

11. Dip pH sensor in pH-4 buffer solution.
12. Use arrows to enter value indicated on buffer solu-
tion of 4-pH (4.000_). Display shows:
B pH =4.0000_
13. Press OK/RESET button, display shows:
B= *.***pH OK?
NOTE: *.*** corresponds to value read by sensor.
This value can be different from value read in buffer
solution
14. Allow time for value to stabilize; then, press OK/
RESET button. Display shows:
Done, press OK
2.5.8 pH Sensor Calibration (Point #2)
NOTE: Write down batch number and expiration
date for buffer solution. Never use an expired solu-
tion.
1. Remove sensor from pH-4 buffer solution and rinse
well.
2. Spray sensor tip with distilled water to rinse. Do
not rub or hit sensor bubble.
NOTE: Glass bubble at sensor’s tip is very fragile,

too long, always immerse in a liquid so bubble does
not dry.
3. Dab sensor tip with a soft lint-free cloth to remove
excess of water.
4. Dip sensor in pH-10 buffer solution.
