OPERATION
◊ OvErviEW
After preparation, adjustments and run test are done,
and machine at operating temperature, the
edgebanding operation can start.
The machine can be used on straight edges, outside
and inside curves and inside corners.
We recommend you start with a test piece of same
material you will edge and same banding, of decent size
so you can get the feeling of the operation (speed,
pressure applied) and to confirm your settings are good.
Measure the length of the workpiece and cut banding
tape a few inches (4’’) longer than workpiece to allow
for precise end trimming
(fig. 11)
.
Insert the banding tape into the infeed guide to the feed
rollers. Start the feed rollers and stop the tape before
glue applied. Machine is ready to apply the tape.
Make sure the workpiece is secured; use of the suction
cup clamps allows access on all sides.
Press the heated pressure plate and roller against edge
of the workpiece and start the feed rollers
(fig. 12)
. The
glue is automatically spread and the machine applies
the tape to the edge of the piece.
You need to guide the machine at constant speed and
apply steady pressure for good adhesion of the tape.
Stop the feed rollers once the tape is applied.
The speed can be adjusted by turning the speed control
dial on the handle.

(FIG.12)
For circular shaped workpieces, as we finish close to
the starting point, maintain the guide plate against the
surface of workpiece while moving edgebander away
from the edge just before the tape ends
(fig. 13)
.
Use the dual end cutter to cut the tape at exact length
and an air gun and wood block to apply the tape in final
position.
Caution: Liquid glue on end of the tape can be very
hot and cause burns.

inside and outside radius
The machine can apply edge banding to inside and
outside curves having a radius no smaller than 1’’
(25 mm). Type and thickness of tape may affect the
result and might require larger radius. Test on scrap
piece to confirm result prior to edge banding the real
part.
inside corners
The inside corner guide plate must be attached, as
shown on
(fig.14)
. Tighten the screws.
This guide plate is used to apply tape on inside corners
(fig. 15)
, and for curves with inner radius smaller than
1’’ (type and thickness of tape will affect the result).
