The controller has two operating ranges for the laser diode cur-
rent source. Setting
RNGE
LOW
sets the maximum output current
to 250 mA (LDC501) or 50 mA (LDC500), while
RNGE
HIGH
sets it to
500 mA (LDC501) or 100 mA (LDC500). The
RNGE
command cannot
be executed while the laser is on.

The LDC500 has an input relay to disconnect the modulate input
BNC connector from the LD driver circuitry. Setting
MODU
OFF
opens this relay, disconnecting the connector (and any user cable)
from the driver. When using modulation, the user must send the
MODU
ON
command.
