7.3.4 External Wiring
Protective conductor
• Always connect the protective conductor.
• Regardless of the operating voltage, connect all uncoated and non-energised metal
parts to the protective conductor system.
• The neutral conductor is considered as a live conductor and it has to be installed
accordingly.
• Inactive metal parts are insulated in accordance with IEC/EN 61439 and not connected
to PE.
Observe the test certificate of the terminals.
Terminal bridging is only permitted if original Ex accessories are used.
If necessary, equip with the required partitions.
For additional splice protection, use core end sleeves or cable lugs.
The cross section of the splice protection must match the conductor cross
section.
WARNING
Danger due to incorrect installation!
Risk of injuries and material damage!
• Observe the thread sizes for the cable entries specified in the
equipment documentation.
• The connecting cable should comply with relevant regulations and
have the required cross section. The diameter must be identical to
the data on the cable gland.
• Ensure that the maximum permissible conductor temperatures are
not exceeded by selecting suitable wires and means of running
them.
• The permissible ambient temperature at the intrinsically safe
built-in devices and components must not be exceeded.
• When stripping insulation, ensure that the conductor insulation
reaches right up to the terminals.
• The conductor itself must not be damaged when removing the
insulation.
