If cable glands with type of protection "increased safety" (e) are used, but not provided
by R. STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH, and there is a usability confirmation of the
manufacturer (combination of screw connection and cable), the restricted breathing test
can be carried out as follows:
Provided that the selected cable glands and the cables assigned to the cable glands have
been installed according to the operating instructions, and the installation has been
carried out by qualified skilled personnel according to IEC/EN 60079-17, the restricted
breathing test after installation or maintenance can be carried out in two different ways:
1 Visual inspection of the silicone seal attached inside the translucent cover. The
luminaire can be operated without performing an additional restricted breathing test
according to IEC/EN 60079-15 if the seal is not damaged.
2 The restricted breathing test is carried out via the test connection of the luminaire
according to IEC/EN 60079/15.
Please observe the tightening torque for luminaires with installed cable glands and
stopping plugs from R. STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH.
8 Commissioning
Before commissioning, ensure that
• the device has been installed according to regulations.
• the power supply voltage and the rated operational voltage are identical.
• the required cable diameter for cable glands has been used.
• the cable entries and stopping plugs have been securely tightened.
DANGER
Explosion hazard if breathers are used!
Accidents or fatal injury are almost certain to happen!
• Do not use breathers.
