these could block the filter holes. Never operate the
appliance without water and ground coffee.
• To fill the water container, remove it from the base
station and do not fill it above the MAX mark (on the
inside of the water container). Only use the appliance
together with the base station supplied.
• To use the appliance, it must be plugged into a power
point. Never use the appliance on a hot or wet surface.
• Ensure the mains cable does not come into contact
with any metal part of the electric coffee maker during
operation.
• Never touch the appliance with damp or wet hands. Do
not touch the mains cable or plug with wet hands.
Always unplug the appliance by holding the plug, not
the cord. Do not damage the mains cable: do not jam
it in anything, and avoid sharp edges, heat, etc. Do not
use the appliance if the cable is damaged or faulty.
• Be careful not to scald yourself with escaping steam or
hot water splashing out, due to improper use. Do not
open while coffee is brewing.
• The water container and the top of the appliance
become very hot during operation; avoid touching them.
If the upper body contains brewed coffee, it must not
be unscrewed. Only hold the appliance by its handle.
Turn the appliance off before removing it from the base.
Allow the appliance to cool down before preparing
coffee again.
• If liquids or foreign objects come into contact with the
base or the bottom of the water container, immediately
unplug the appliance from the electric supply.
• In the case of a fault or malfunction occurring, switch
the appliance off; do not attempt to repair it yourself.
Have repairs to the appliance carried out only by a
customer service workshop that is authorised by the
manufacturer. Failure to comply with the above safety
notes can compromise the safety of the appliance.
• Never attempt to exchange the mains cable of the
appliance as special tools are required for this. To ensure
continued safety of the appliance, if the cable needs
to be repaired or exchanged, have this carried out
exclusively by a customer service workshop authorised
by the manufacturer.
• After using the appliance, unplug it from the mains.
• Before cleaning the appliance, unplug it from the mains
and let it cool down. Never immerse the base station
or the water container in water: remember this is an
electrical appliance.
Setting to work / operation
• Place the appliance on a stable flat surface which is
neither hot nor near a heat source. The surface must be
dry. Keep the appliance and its mains cable out of reach
of children.
• Ensure that the voltage indicated on the rating plate of
the appliance agrees with the mains voltage in your
area. Connect the appliance only to a properly earthed
power point with a minimum output of 6A. Use a
residual current device (RCD) seek the advice of an
electrician. While the appliance is in use, the mains
plug must be accessible in case of an emergency. The
manufacturer declines any liability for accidents caused
by faulty or non-existing earthing of the appliance.
• If the power point is unsuitable for accommodating the
plug of your appliance, have the power point changed
by a licensed electrician.
1. Ensure that the espresso machine is cold. Unscrew it by
holding the water container (9.) with one hand and with
the other hand the upper body (2.), which collects the
brewed coffee, anti clockwise, i.e. to the left.
2. Remove the coffee funnel (6.) from the water container
(9.). To make 6 cups of coffee fill the water container
with fresh water to the MAX. mark.
IMPORTANT:
Never use your espresso coffee maker with an
empty water container; never use warm water in
an effort to speed up the preparation of coffee.
3. Insert the coffee funnel (6.) in the water container (9.).
4. Fill the coffee funnel with ground coffee, do not com-
pact the coffee. Put the ground coffee into the funnel in
small quantities, using a spoon to prevent overfilling the
funnel and spilling ground coffee. Distribute the ground
coffee evenly and wipe any excess from the rim of the
funnel.
IMPORTANT: Use only high quality ground
coffee of medium grind, suitable for espresso
coffee machines.
5. Firmly screw the espresso machine together by holding
the water container with one hand and with the other
hand turn the upper body, which collects the brewed
coffee, clockwise, i.e. to the right. Do not apply pressure
to the handle.
6. Place the espresso machine on the base. Close the lid.
7. Press the ON/OFF switch (10.). The pilot light indicates
that the appliance is operating. After 5 to 6 minutes,
coffee will start to percolate from the riser pipe. After
the coffee has been made (8-9 minutes after the start),
the ON/OFF switch will automatically revert to the OFF
position. (i.e. the appliance is switched off)
IMPORTANT: Before initial use of the espresso
machine, clean all its accessories and the riser pipe
with warm water.
Never open the lid while the appliance is in operation
– risk of scalding!
Cleaning / maintenance
• Before cleaning the espresso machine, make sure it is
cool and unplugged from the mains.
