Testing and Adjustments
Without assembling the positioning rods, place the
toggle clamp away from the crawler grab as far as
the bowden cable allows, ensuring a straight run
from the toggle clamp to the crawler grab.
Fully open the toggle clamp. Ensure the lower
connecting bar’s holding screws, at both ends,
are in the lowest position as per figure 5.3. If they
are proceed to point 6.
If an adjustment is required, slacken the 2-off
cable clamping screws (see figure 5.3).
Force open the two connecting bars as far as
possible and pull taut the cable using suitable tool
(i.e. pliers).
Fully tighten the cable clamping screws to secure
the now taut bowden cable in place.
Test adjusted deployment tool by opening/closing
toggle clamp and noting responding action on
crawler grab.
Installation and deployment
CAUTION! Failure to follow this procedure may
result in severe damage to the crawler and camera
system.

Assemble as many rods as are required by
screwing them together.
Attach the rods to the crawler grab.
Attach a sufficient length of durable rope to the
crawler grab.
Attach the toggle clamp to the top section of the rods.
Position the grab over the crawler (see Figure 5.4)
and close the toggle clamp to lock the crawler in
place.
If you are using the large adjustable elevator (see
Figure 5.5), lock the crawler grab to the elevator.
Check that the crawler is clamped securely.
Ensure the lower connecting bar’s holding screws,
at both ends, are in the upmost position as per
figure 5.6.
Use the grab rope to lower the crawler into
manhole. If required, adjusts the toggle clamp’s
position to ensure it remains above ground.
NOTE: The crawler may spin as it descends; use the
rod to guide and steady the crawler.
