The command returns the slot settings and the wireline type. For example, if slot 5 contains a 0.5 mm wire-
line card length set to 500 m and set as tap, the returned message is:
5,500 M,TAP, 0.5 mm ADSL
6.2 Wireline Settings
As recommended by the SCPI consortium and to simplify programming of the various simulators, the
DLS 400E3 uses the following tree structure:

Each section of the command may be sent in the full or the truncated form (indicated in upper case). The
command itself may be sent in upper or lower case form.
The DLS 400E3 simulator will round any number to the nearest number permitted by the resolution of the
parameter.
The DLS 400E3 system is a slot based configuration and therefore device dependant commands should fol-
low the structure listed below. For automating scripts you can open the DLS 400E3 Software and when you
open the “Terminal” window, any loop which is selected, echoes back SCPI command structure for all loops.
This command structure is what Spirent Communications recommends for all loops.
Before setting a new configuration all cards in both units should be set to 0 with the following command:
SETTING:SLOT <#>,O M,INLINE
However, unit 2 slot #1 must be set with the following command and cannot be changed from bridged tap:
SETTING:SLOT 1,O M,TAP
WARNING: If an unused slot is not set to 0, the slot retains it’s previous settings. You may want to
create a loop-based command which sets all slots to 0 length, prior to setting a new
loop.
