DLS 400E3 LOOP DESCRIPTIONS FOR REMOTE CONTROL
5.1
DLS 400E3 Loop Configurations
The DLS 400E3 can simulate all loops required by ETSI TS 101 388, ETSI ETR 328 and DSL Forum
TR 048 (0.4mm loops).
5.2
Reversing Loops
You can reverse all loops with remote software control. The effect of doing this is to reverse the connections
to side A and B within the DLS 400E3.
Note:
When a loop is reversed, the main control screen shows a reversed diagram of the loop and any
bridged taps but the side (A and B) remain at the same position on the control window.
5.3
DLS 400E3 Fine Increment Wireline Card
The Fine Increment Wireline Card in conjunction with the DLS 1310E3 Compensation Software, allow tun-
ing of the simulator to your lab environment. These are three types of Fine Increment Wireline Cards and
their slot locations: 0.4 mm (unit 1, slot 3), 0.5 mm (unit 1, slot 2) and 0.4 Bridged Tap (unit 2, slot 1).
5.4
Remote Control for Compensated Loops
With the DLS 400E3 you are supplied with the following four ’csv’ files:
1)
Standards
File
- associates an ID to every possible loop configuration, supported by the DLS 400E3
2a)
DLS 400E3 Standard Slot Settings
File
- associates each ID to generic simulator compensation settings
for each slot
2b)
Factory Compensated File
- associates each ID to factory compensation settings for each slot, for your
particular unit
2c)
1310 Compensated File
- associates each ID to DLS 1310-generated simulator compensation settings
for each slot, for your particular unit in your lab environment
Note:
To use the compensation feature with the DLS 400E3 Software, see Section 3.5.4 "Compensating
Line Segment Lengths".
The DLS 400E3 Control Software uses these files to adjust the loops according to an ID that represents the
exact loop configuration you select. However, you can use these files for remote control compensation by:
•
Programming commands to parse the "standards" file and to find the ID for the desired loop
•
using the ID, look up the compensated slot length settings for unit 1 and 2 from either the "standard slot
settings" file or the "factory compensated" file or your environment-specific "1310 compensated" file.
Figure 5.1 identifies that the ID #19 is associated with "TS 101 388/EC ADSL over ISDN/Downstream/
Model FA/1024 Loop 3/10006240.NIF identifier.
